can you (house version)
I have loved listening to, producing, and playing music for most of my life. During this listening phase, I came across a song written by Tamika McDonald, aka Tamika Tyan. Tamika’s song "Can You” is a beautiful ballad she wrote and performed herself. Immediately upon listening, I contacted Tamika to ask her if she would be interested in a new soulful house production version. As the song she wrote and performed was special to her, she could not re-work the song. With all due respect, I understood and proceeded to do a cover in the soulful house genre. Looking now for a vocalist to take on this project, I reached out to Carla. She agreed to take this on, and the final collaboration and production is what you hear.
SWEET MELODY 2024
In 1994, as Mo’Hop Records neared its end, I penned a song to convey my profound adoration for music, paying homage to melodies that resonate deeply with both the ears and the soul. In the narrative of this rendition, I enlisted the lead vocalist and background singers simultaneously. Together, we laid down the lead vocals and harmonies. Upon completing the background vocals, I invited one of the female singers to take on the lead verses, capturing her vocals for the first time on this 2024 rendition. In doing so, I breathe new life into something old, rejuvenating it once more.
how did i find you
In the mosaic of my life, a profound question echoes—a gratitude for stumbling upon a love that defies the ordinary. Beyond youthful passion, it's the enduring flame-weathering storms that captivates. Amid divergent paths, our souls found each other in a dance transcending time. The chapters of failure and triumph deepen our shared narrative. Looking back, the serendipity of our encounter seems almost preordained, as if the universe conspired to weave our fates together. To have navigated the labyrinth of life and arrived at this juncture, where love has blossomed into a lasting legacy, leaves me humbled and in awe. It's a testament to the extraordinary tapestry that love can create when two souls, against all odds, choose to embark on a journey of a lifetime together.
Worth it (EAM Mix)
I uncovered this hauntingly beautiful song by Kayla Jay one night when randomly listening to music. Her original production is an acoustic production in a ballad format. I was floored by how she created this emotive production of a message I feel we have heard before. I felt as if she conveyed a personalized story and delivered a straight-to-the-point and poignant rendition. This was on non-stop replay for several days until I finally reached out to Kayla to see if she would collaborate with me on a 2023 version. Thankfully she did, and there you have it.
